This is our direct link from Common Sense Living to you. We have had many visitors to our previous site express a desire to be more active in what CSL Ministries is doing. Hopefully this format will serve that purpose.
Quick FYI: We began the ministry in Missouri and expanded to Oklahoma. We support various ministers, license ministers, promote and exchange resources within the fellowship of other believers in our communities and beyond. We pray and we believe in our prayers.
We are a non-profit organization with a volunteer team that serves from a variety of locations and industries. We each have families, church responsibilities and regular jobs. CSL is committed to share a sound common sense message based on a living relationship with Jesus Christ to everyone who crosses our paths.
This is Brad, from Missouri
A note to show the timing and efforts of the Lord.
Sometimes the Lord is more in tune with our needs than we think. More
of the time than not is the truth. I just went through such an event that proves to me
who really is The Lord of all.
I live in the great state of Missouri and I have been very happy living here. After living
60 yrs. on this earth, my best friend and my favorite uncle lives in Texas and his wife.
My aunt is just top people if you know what I mean.
At 89 yrs. old some bad news came to my uncle. They found cancer. We spent an hour
or two on the phone going over what people talk about after they get this kind of report.
We had five days to wait for the final report which would tell us just how bad or how far
the cancer had spread throughout his body.
The Lord’s first move.
My uncle called my older sister wanting to know about this “accepting Jesus or salvation
thing”. I know all of this because later on he told me the details. In the meantime my
sister called me and said she had told him I was the best one to call about
this subject. So that is just what he did. He was as serious about this as he could be. He
later called his younger brother about what all went on and how he should talk to me.
We spent a couple of hours on the phone and I was able to lead him in a very clear and
understanding way to the Lord. We also talked about the possibility of me coming down
after we got the report back for maybe one last visit. He told my aunt later that with the
exception of the day he married her, this was probably the best day of his whole life. So
now my uncle has salvation and his younger brother knows all about it too.
The Lord’s second move
Early Tuesday morning he and his wife are going to the hospital to get the doctor’s
final report on the cancer. All of sudden he leans back in the seat of the car and it
is over. He is gone. She pulls the car over but she said she already knew he was gone.
There was no suffering or pain. Just as quiet and easy with a smile on his face, he left
this earth for the last time in this body, only now with the promise of a new one that he
would not have had without the Lord.
Later on that morning my brother came by for what he thought was to be a short visit.
He was unaware of any of this but as God would have it, he was able to shut down
his truck and stay with the aunt until Sunday morning. He owns his own trucks and this
is not common in the trucking business. With no family anywhere close to Texas, she
was kept from being alone until my sisters and I can get there sunday evening.
The third & fourth move of the Lord
Meanwhile, my older sister is do to have open heart bypass surgery early Monday
morning. Therefore, we are wanting to leave Sunday morning but on Friday the doctor’s
office calls and said he cannot do surgery before Friday morning. We were plannong on
going back to MO on Wednesday afternoon. Something else even bigger was that my
uncle had called the person he had shared his about his salvation with and said he and
his wife want to ride down to Texas with us. They want to learn more about this salvation
thing his brother had told him about. Of course my answer was yes we can do this and with
the older sister staying home there would only be two of us. They were more than welcome!
It’s a 14 hr. drive to Texas so you can bet he will hear the gospel of salvation. What is he
going to do is another glory to God! just as we were about to leave Sunday morning my older
sister calls and wants to know when we will be back. I told her and she said that was good
and would give us plenty of time to go over this “salvation thing” before her surgery on
Monday morning. She had spoken to the doctor about this and he said it’s not a bad idea,
that is for sure. Even though she will come through the surgery just fine but it is so much
bigger than this anyway.
Well, we’re in Texas now and all are experiencing such peace and comfort. The funeral is set
for Tuesday morning and another family member is set for salvation. After a 14 hr. drive, my
brother is on his way back through for Tuesday morning. My aunt read us the final report
and his body was full of cancer. Everywhere they looked was cancer so my uncle had a matter
of weeks at the best to live. The doctor said he would have been out for most of it due to the
medications to control the pain. That would have been the worst part of it.
So on we live with a whole new look on how the Lord’s plans are lovingly flowing in even the
smallest of details for our good or the salvation of someone. We will get back and deal with
the older sister’s surgery and salvation later…and God only knows what else is next.
Your friend in Christ says to remember that our Lord does take care of the smallest details
in our lives. Therefore, be encouraged this day for He is a Good God.
The final move of the Lord is yet to come!!
